Literacy Outreach Programs |
The ELLI program has provided literacy services to over 500 elementary and high school students at risk of non promotion due to limited English Proficiency.
Through sharing books and art activities and community partnerships children are given the opportunity to increase their English proficiency through numerous activities. Some of our community partners are:
Glendale Fire Department
Glendale Police Department
Integrated Waste Management Section
Glendale Adventist Anti-smoking campaign
Workplace Literacy
We train volunteer tutors to go out to the workplace and we help design a program that will help employees better understand oral and written communications.
Daily High Link
A program at Daily High for ELLI kids. What makes this program unique is that our supervisors helped the students increase their reading and writing skills by teaching them poetry through rap music. Each of the students was able to create a rap song and then get it burned on a CD.
