The Glendale Central Library will provide a copy of an obituary, or a related article, from our microfilmed copies of the local newspaper, The Glendale News-Press. Because there is no index to the newspaper, this service is available only if we have an exact date of death (or date of the event desired). We will search the News-Press microfilm for the seven days following the death date provided in the request. For death dates prior to 1986, we will also search the Historic Los Angeles Times (1881-1985) database.
Obituary searches for up to 3 persons may be requested at one time or within a one month period for free. Additional searches may be requested at a cost of $5.00 per additional request. Please note that the fee is for the search and must be paid in the event that no obituary is found. (SEE ABOVE)
Please allow at least three months for a request to be filled. Rush orders (research will take place and the obituary, if found, will be sent out within 5 business days) may be requested at a cost of $5.00 per request. Please note that the fee is for the search and must be paid in the event that no obituary is found. (SEE ABOVE)
For services that require payment, please make checks payable to: Glendale Public Library. We are not currently able to accept credit card payments.
